Club Boat Hire
POYC Boats
- Club Lasers with 4.7 rig or full sail $20 per use. (Good laser $30)
- Opti's $10 per use
BOAT HIRE POLICY – NEW SAILORS - if you are taking part in Thursdays Junior sailing or Learn to Sail sessions, there is no hire fee on the boat you are using for those sessions. Using the club boat is part of the package. Risk management is in place and rescue craft on the water.
On Sunday’s Club Sailing Day – Opti hire at $10 is available to Junior members. Juniors must ONLY sail if directly supervised by a competent adult in a rescue boat.
Otherwise MEMBER BOAT HIRE is - $30 for the good laser, $20 for other lasers, $10 for Opti’s.
HOW TO HIRE A BOAT – As a member there is a booklet in the boat storage area for you to register your hire on the day with payment options.
Boats and equipment must be returned to their right place and signed back in. Any damage or missing equipment must be reported on check out or check in.
Payment for usage can be paid by Bank transfer.

Rules for Hire of Club Boats (Part of Club Laser Hire agreement form)
1. Agree to use the boat in a proper sailing manner and will take excellent care of the boat at all times, follow the Sailing Rules and use common sense and to do all in my power to avoid collision and damage to the Laser.
2. Juniors must ONLY sail if directly supervised by a competent adult in a rescue boat.
3. Will not allow any other person not represented by this agreement to use the boat.
4. Understand that the boat may only be used in wind conditions averaging below 15 knots.
5. Agree to have all personal safety gear that is needed at all times and to wear a lifejacket at all times.
6. Agree to care for the boat as if it was my own and to return the boat in the condition in which it was hired to me, other than allowing for general wear and tear.
7. Agree to return all gear neatly packed on the boat and hang the sail to dry if needed.
8. I understand that I will be held totally responsible for all damage or loss to the Laser, during the term of the hire.
9. I do completely indemnify POYC, in respect of all claims, by any person whatsoever for injury to person or property caused by the use of the Laser during the period of the hire and in respect of all costs and charges in that connection, whether arising under statute or at common law.
10. If the Laser is involved in an accident or incident resulting in injury or damage to property, notice must immediately be given to a POYC committee member. I shall make no admission, offer, promise of payment, or indemnity to any third party without the written consent of POYC’s Solicitors.
11. I understand that if any repairs are required I will contact the club bosun or a committee member.
