Club Boat Hire
Boat Use
Boats are available for use by Club Members and sailors that have gone through LTS course. Boats are only available for use on Club Sailing days.
POYC Boats
- Club Lasers (Older) with 4.7 rig: 4 - $20 per use (day or half day).
Newer Club Lasers $30 per day or half day One full rig is available for more experienced sailors.
- Club Phase II: $20 per use (day or half day)
BOPSAT Boats
These boats have been rented from the Bay of Plenty Sailing Academy Trust (BOPSAT) for the season. They include:
- 6 Optimists – on rack to right of big door (mostly blue boats) - $10 per half day, $20 per day
Arrangements can be made for rental of a BOPSAT boat for a longer period (speak to Ken). A very limited number of BOPSAT racing boats are also available through the BOPSAT website. See:http://www.bopsat.org.nz/
Boat Care and Payment
All boats must be checked out through our Bosun Graeme Reid. Boats and equipment must be returned to their right place and signed back in. Any damage or missing equipment must be reported on check out or check in.
Payment for usage can be by cash or cheque on check out/in or by direct deposit monthly. Direct Credit payments to: Port Ohope Yacht Club - 030490 - 0208241 - 00
Please take care of the boats and equipment for the benefit of all. You will be held responsible for damage due to negligence or mistreatment of equipment.

Rules for Hire of Club Boats (Part of Club Laser Hire agreement form)
1. Agree to use the Laser in a proper sailing manner and will take excellent care of the Laser at all times, follow the Sailing Rules and use common sense and to do all in my power to avoid collision and damage to the Laser.
2. Will not allow any other person not represented by this agreement to use the Laser
3. Understand that the Laser may only be used in wind conditions averaging below 25 knots.
4. Agree to have all personal safety gear that is needed at all times and to wear a lifejacket at all times.
5. Agree to care for the Laser as if it was my own and to return the Laser in the condition in which it was hired to me, other than allowing for general wear and tear.
6. Agree to return all gear neatly packed on the boat and hang the sail to dry if needed.
7. I understand that I will be held totally responsible for all damage or loss to the Laser, during the term of the hire.
8. I do completely indemnify POYC, in respect of all claims, by any person whatsoever for injury to person or property caused by the use of the Laser during the period of the hire and in respect of all costs and charges in that connection, whether arising under statute or at common law.
9. If the Laser is involved in an accident or incident resulting in injury or damage to property, notice must immediately be given to a POYC committee member. I shall make no admission, offer, promise of payment, or indemnity to any third party without the written consent of POYC’s Solicitors.
10. I understand that if any repairs are required I will contact the club bosun or a committee member.
